Competed in my second Newcastle Half Marathon yesterday and it was a great event with lovely weather and a very picturesque course along side beaches and Newcastle Harbour. It was a packed race and a very nice atmosphere. I was pleased with my time, (2hr 25min), which was quicker than last year and all the training hours over the last few months seemed to really help.
A huge thank you for all the donations, and I am so appreciative of everyones generosity. Every dollar raised is so important in supporting the work of Taronga Conservation in fighting to prevent so many endangered species and ecosystems disappearing forever.

Less than a week to go until the Half Marathon in Newcastle and completed another training run from Gosford to Woy Woy and back. Hopefully almost ready for the big event.

It was nice to complete another training run, (2 hours 20 minutes), this morning and so lucky to be able to enjoy the wonderful reserve around the lake. Lots of very busy birds feeding on the waters edge, including a small group of Royal Spoonbills.

Another early morning training run around the lake and really inspiring to see all the birds and great to be able to enjoy nature while covering the kms.

Have been building up my training for several months now in preparation for the Newcastle Half Marathon on the 19th April. With just 6 weeks to go, ran the path from Gosford to Woy Woy and back yesterday as a gauge of my readiness for the 21 km race. It was a great morning but still need to improve my fitness and time over the next few weeks.

Ran the Newcastle half marathon today and felt like a big milestone. All the training over the last few months seemed to come together and made the distance in 2hr 32min, which was my best time so far.
It was a great event with lots of runners and the course around Newcastle foreshore was lovely. And no hills!!
I want to say a huge thank you to all the people who donated and I know that the money raised with be of enormous benefit to the work Taronga Conservation is doing to protect at risk wildlife and ecosystems.
